Rye Hill House is a detached rural retreat situated in the delightful village of Bruntingthorpe, South Leicestershire, England. The ideal place to relax, explore local countryside, or use as a central base for visiting locations in England.
Built in the early 1950’s on the former site of the village Blacksmith’s the cottage has been in the family for over sixty years. Sisters Christine and Elaine run the holiday rental.
Standing on it’s own private plot in the centre of the village the mature garden is secure, walled and child friendly. There is a double garage, off road parking space and an outside sitting area. Rear elevated views span the open countryside.
The property comprises of three first floor bedrooms (double, twin, single) sleeping up to five. Two bedrooms have built in wardrobes and there is an upstairs bathroom (with shower).
On the ground floor is a large fully equipped kitchen / diner (with washing machine), a “cosy family room” and lounge with free view television and DVD player. Also a small downstairs cloakroom.

Booking Policy
We ask for a deposit of 25% (non-refundable) upon booking and the balance payable in full 1 month prior to the start of the date of arrival.
Any cancellations made within one month of the date of arrival will only be refunded if that booking is resold.
In the unlikely event that we need to cancel any booking all monies including deposit refunded in full.
Departures by 10.15 am and Arrivals from 3.30pm onwards.
We will contact you a week before to arrange arrival details, we both live nearby so can either greet you at the cottage or offer alternative key arrangements.
To help keep rental costs low please leave the property as clean as you will find it. Should additional cleaning be required or breakages / damage occur an extra charge maybe be levied.

The conservation village remains unspoilt with about eighty properties. Most buildings are old, yet carefully restored and a few new. Taking a walk through the village enhances the charm of the place.
There are two pubs, a garage for petrol sales, a working farm and St. Mary’s Church.
Both pubs are worth the stroll for a local pint and maybe a meal!

The Royal Mail Post Bus calls at the village on route to the nearby town of Lutterworth several times a day (Monday to Friday/Saturday) Route 373 Lutterworth-Peatling Parva. Available Seats: 8
Swift Valley Coaches operate a service calling at the village on route to Leicester / and return twice a week (Tuesday & Saturday)
The village is ideally placed for all the amenities.
And its central location offers an excellent base for exploration within Leicestershire and England.
Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground and Vintage Aircraft Museum are but a few minutes away.

Countesthorpe village is five miles away. The village has a Co-op store, butchers, bakery, chemists, Post Office, newsagents and cash points. Also a fish and chip shop and take away. There is a Doctors / Health Centre in the village.
Blaby village (6 miles) has the same amenities plus a Waitrose an Aldi Supermarket and a Summerfield (with petrol station). There are also banks in the village, two Doctors / Health Centres, Police station, library and pet store.
The Vets is in Whetstone village (6 miles) and there is a local farm shop selling a variety of produce (including dog food) on the outskirts of village.
Both Enderby Leisure Centre and Wigston Swimming Pool are 7 miles away.
Travelling further south from Bruntingthorpe lie the rural market towns of Lutterworth (7miles) and Market Harborough (12 miles), plus town of Rugby (12 miles) with railway station for central commute to main destinations.
And on the north side are the urban areas of Wigston (5 miles), Fosse Park (6 miles) and the City of Leicester (10 miles) with both railway and bus stations to main destinations.

East Midlands Airport is approximately 30 minutes away by car.

Whether walking, cycling or travelling by car there are many local picturesque villages to visit in the area.
Bruntingthorpe Vintage Aircraft Museum is a short distance away so are local fishing spots like Peatling Pool at Peatling Parva.
If you have a bicycle the surrounding open countryside is ideal for cycling..
Nearby is Wistow Maize Maze open in the summer months, and Enderby Leisure Centre (2 swimming pools -25m main pool and teaching pool) and Wigston pool (33.3m).
Foxton Locks is unique in that it has a staircase of ten working locks and the remains of the Inclined Plane/ boat lift. It’s the ideal place to picnic, stroll by the towpath of The Grand Union Canal or take a boat ride.
Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre and Country Park.
Re live a turning point in history, the death of a king and start of Tudor Dynasty. Follow the Battlefield Trail.
Visit the ruined castles at Ashby de la Zouch (with a tower to climb and an underground tunnel) and Kirby Muxloe (to see the picturesque moat remains). Belvoir, Warwick and Rockingham castles are also well worth visiting.
Bradgate Park – over 800 acres of ancient rocks, forest and bracken. Stroll by the river at the bottom of the park with the lopped Oak trees marking the beheading of Lady Jane Grey, walk to the ruined house where she was born and beheaded and then climb to the Old John Tower. An ideal place to picnic and explore.
Snibston Discovery Park set on the site of a former colliery. There’s an excellent interactive museum combining technology and design from the past to the present day. Also a one hundred acre country park and nature reserve.
In the same area is Conkers with interactive exhibits indoors and outdoors an assault course (aged 13+) to tackle. Plus Shakerstone Train Station.
A fascinating day out is a ride on a steam train. The Great Central Railway, Britain's only double track main line steam railway runs from Leicester to Loughborough and back again.
Leicester’s National Space Centre is the country’s largest attraction dedicated to space - journey through 6 stunning galleries, see the Rocket Tower, enjoy the 3D S.I.M ride and 360 degree space theatre.
Leicester may not have a Premier League team but it can claim to be one of the countries sporting hotbeds having top class cricket and football not forgetting the world’s best Rugby Club the famous Leicester Tigers!
And Leicestershire is central for five of the major racetracks in the country – Donington Park, Mallory Park, Silverstone, Rockingham Race Circuit and Santa Pod Raceway.
Mallory is known as the friendly circuit with excellent viewing facilities and Donington is the host to major Bike events and the Car GP 2010!
If travelling south London might be your destination (from Rugby station 1 hour away by train).
North lies Nottingham with Trent Bridge Cricket Ground, an excellent shopping centre and underground caves located under part of the shopping centre to explore. Plus Nottingham Castle and Robin Hood country (Sherwood Forest).
North West is the scenic Derbyshire Dales, and West the picturesque town of Stratford-upon-Avon the birthplace of William Shakespeare.
And if venturing east there’s the East Coast and a fun day at the sea.
